Choose a Career that’s high in Demand and appeals to your Interest
by Saju Joseph
Everyone would like to get a job that is high in demand and the one that interests them. Let me suggest you an option that fits the bill and one which you might want to consider.
I’m a Computer Science Engineering graduate from Mumbai University, and the first job I landed was with a company that was doing some data entry project for a UK based E-commerce Company.
My job was to collect product details from the source company website and input them in the E-commerce website portal.
It was during this time when Google and Yahoo were changing the way people purchased products, and all of a sudden businessmen across the world started realizing the need to get ranked on the SERP’s (Search Engine Results Page) to grow their businesses.
The company in the UK also decided to train us on Search Engine Optimization, Link Marketing, and other Digital activities.
For me, this was an entirely new field that was in high demand and also the one that appealed to my interest, and I took it up as my new career.
It’s been almost 13 years now, and I still love what I do. I’m now a freelance Digital Marketing Strategist and Coach.
What I’ve come to realize is that Digital Marketing is here to stay for a long time and anyone wanting to work in this field has a significant advantage.
I was recently having a conversation with one of my friend from the US who was telling me that the Mall culture in the US is almost dying, mostly because people prefer buying everything online.
We see such trends even in India as more and more people have access to the internet on their smartphones.
Companies are incorporating Digital Marketing strategies and setting separate budgets to do digital activities because they see the trends changing.
Larger companies now have a tougher competition from small, medium and startup companies because in the digital space all are equal.
Consumers are moving from being brand loyal to buying products that are more affordable and accessible.
The digital economy is growing ten times faster than any other traditional economy, and therefore career options are tremendous if you learn and understand the skills earlier than others.
It will be too late and will become highly competitive by the time Digital Marketing is introduced as a subject in our schools and colleges.
So, if you are at a crossroad trying to figure out what career to pick, then Digital Marketing is definitely an option to consider because it is high in demand and one that may interest you.
